Burkina Faso Update

April 2005

Bark Wennam...Thanks to God.

We returned from Africa on the 18th of April.  The time in Burkina was fantastic...thanks to all of you who have been praying for us and supporting us.

We know that it is through your prayers that the Lord works.  It is easy to see prayers answered in Africa .  They are much wanted and very much needed.

Our main focus this time was to encourage the people in Burkina and to buy food for them.  The rainy season was very poor last year, so there is a big lack of food in many  areas.  We were able to buy 65 tons of grain (mostly sorghum).  Besides the lack of rain, there was also an attack of locusts in the Northern part of the country.  Many said it was unlike anything they had ever seen.

However the people there are still faithful to the Lord and still praising His name.    One pastor who had a meager crop said that "he was not going to worry,” because "Jesus said be anxious for nothing". The Burkinabe really are trusting in the Lord and living out their faith.

We were also able to build 10 new churches.  The church  continues to grow and the need for church roofs is still huge.

Our son Shay came for a week to teach at a large convention and Matt Fox came from Bandon to teach and see the ministry.  Everyone was blessed by the Lord and by the love that was shown by the Burkinabe.

The needs are still so great in Burkina, we feel that the Lord wants us to continue on with the ministry there, so we are planning on going back in October.  Please continue to keep us in your prayers and please pray for a good rainy season which should start in July and go through October.
